Walmart is giving everyone a seat at the table

Lawn chair, desk chair, fold-up chair: whatever your choice of chair, Walmart is asking you to bring it to the table.

Set to The Youngbloods’ generically feel-good tune, ‘Get Together’, the minute long spot shows a diverse range of people from all demographics convening at a giant dining room table in a field.

“We’re a place where 140 million people gather every week, and our stores are part of the fabric of communities around America,” says Walmart. “Inspired by what we are hearing from many of our customers and associates right now, we recognize and celebrate the importance of coming together despite our differences.”

Coming together? Despite our differences? Could it be that this ad around four-legged furniture is some sort of veiled threat at President Trump? Perhaps, but as AdAge reports, Walmart CEO Doug McMillon didn’t join other CEOs quitting Trump’s advisory councils last week before they were disbanded, but did take the president to task in a note to employees.
