Pip Elliott, former executive director of the Magazine Publishers Association, has brought her own title: Motorhomes, Caravans & Destinations.
The magazine was previously owned by Bauer Media and Elliott purchased it through her company MCD Media Limited.
Her 25-year career in media prior to her most recent role as executive director of the MPA includes general manager of sales and marketing at the New Zealand Herald, general manager of the magazine distribution company Netlink, media consultant for the Print Industry Research Group, and general manager of Roy Morgan Research.
Elliott’s belief in the strong future of magazines arises from her understanding of how magazines connect with audiences.
“I’ve always recognised the unique relationship magazines have with the media landscape. Their ability to truly engage audiences across print, digital and social platforms is second to none. As executive director of the MPA I saw first-hand the incredible job niche publishers are doing in curating content relevant to their readers and advertisers. Magazines are building strong relationships with the sector within which they operate.
“I truly believe in magazines and feel it is me to put my money where my mouth is. This is a stellar example of a brand connecting with its readers and advertisers through a monthly magazine, website, e-newsletter and social media Motorhomes, Caravans & Destinations occupies a distinct position in the market being a hybrid between a consumer and a trader brand with the benefits of both worlds.”
Motorhomes, Caravans & Destinations publishes 13 issues a year that include New Zealand travel features, motorhome and caravan tests and reviews, and technical advice and tips from experts in the industry.
Claire Smith will be staying on as its editor.
Motorhomes, Caravans & Destinations has entered into a contract publishing arrangement with Kate Coughlan and Lynley Belton from Lifestyle Magazine Group, the publishers of NZ Life & Leisure, NZ Lifestyle Block and thisNZlife.co.nz.
