For sale: one moa — extinct, with a hint of eczema

We’ve noticed a bit of one upmanship when it comes to office decor and this auction is the perfect chance to pimp your digs. Auckland Museum has a moa, once an exhibition prop complete with hydraulic base for movement, that’s surplus to requirements and is auctioning the beast on Trade Me.

If you’re considering the bird as an office mascot, you should know it has throat eczema, its coat is actually made from ostrich feathers and it weighs between 500 and 750kg. Curious potential bidders wonder if it would survive on a diet of mice and Complan, what it’s name would be and whether it would be as good a lawn mower as a moa.
