Packaging up a solution for sea life

Images of marine animals trapped in plastic front campaigns to recycle and reduce waste around the world, with plastic beer six-pack rings a regular feature.

Saltwater Brewery, with New York agency We Believers, decided to tackle the solution in a different way, by feeding the fish instead of trapping them.

While people think cutting the plastic is enough, that doesn’t stop marine animals from eating it so the brewery has created edible six pack rings from barley and wheat remnants.

As well as edible, the rings are also 100 percent biodegradable.

As the name suggests, the Florida brewery’s primary target is surfers, fishermen and people who love the sea so it’s an issue close to their hearts.

Saltwater Brewery president Chris Grove said it hopes to influence other breweries to follow suit and take action.
