New Zealand agencies lead the world

Campaign’s ‘Global Agency of the Year’ shortlists have been announced, and New Zealand agencies, Special & Motion Sickness, are impressively leading the way.

Special top the global shortlists with five, just one ahead of fellow kiwi independent Motion Sickness. Both have been shortlisted for ‘Creative Agency of the Year’ and ‘Independent Agency of the Year’.

Special picked up additional shortlists for ‘Best Network: Asia Pacific’, ‘Agency Leader’ for Tony Bradbourne, and ‘Creative Leaders’ for Lisa Fedyszyn and Jonathan McMahon, while Sam Stuchbury from Motion Sickness was also shortlisted for ‘Agency Leader’ & ‘Agency Growth Leader’.

“We should all be pretty proud that agencies from our side of the world have such a disproportionate amount of shortlists compared to our country and market size. It’s more proof that the best of agencies from here, are really the best from anywhere,” says Special founder Tony Bradbourne.

“To have two kiwi agencies out of eight global finalists, the most of any country – is a pretty breakthrough moment for NZ creativity. It’s incredible to reflect back on what we achieved last year with only 20 people. We’re only just getting started, and it feels pretty exciting,” says Motion Sickness founder Sam Stuchbury.

Campaign’s Global Agency of the Year Awards are judged by a panel of top marketers. This year’s chair of judges is Betsey Chung, a veteran global chief marketing officer, who has held a range of senior marketing and finance roles at brands including TD Bank Group, BMO, Aviva and American Express.

The awards compare the best agencies in Europe, USA, Asia Pacific, South America against each other, to rank who is ‘the best of the best’. The awards ceremony takes place on June 13th in London.
