Meet the chosen ones: finalists announced for 2012 TVNZ-NZ Marketing Awards, rejigged programme receives record entries

To celebrate its 21st anniversary, the TVNZ/NZ Marketing Awards
were given a proper spruce up this year with the launch of
the ’Everything Marketing’ platform and the announcement of eight new
categories. And the changes have been met with approval, because a
record number of entries and new entrants were received for the 2012
edition, with a total of 45 entries in the running for the top spots.

“The partnership between NZ Marketing magazine and the Marketing Association to reposition and re-launch the TVNZ/NZ Marketing
Awards over the past three years has been hugely successful. It has
increased the perceived credibility, value and relevance of this awards
programme,” says Natalie Innes, Goodman Fielder, who has been a TVNZ/NZ Marketing awards judge for the past seven years.

The
new categories enabled the wider business community to enter their work
within the context of their industry and this was showed in the 49
percent increase in the number of entries and 32 percent increase in the
number of unique entrants this year.

Not only were there new categories, there was also a whole new judging process with the largest number of judges yet involved.

“The
whole entry and judging process is more robust and the entry criteria
and categories more relevant,” says Innes. “Finalists, and in fact all
entrants, can be confident in the fact that their entries are being
judged on marketing strategy, process and discipline, not just
campaigns, and by a broad range of trusted and respected marketing and
business leaders.”
