TVNZ and Sony Pictures Television renew distribution agreement

Sony Pictures Television and TVNZ have announced the renewal of their long-standing distribution agreement.

The renewal reflects the companies’ shared commitment to delivering high-quality storytelling to audiences on multiple platforms.

This brings a broad slate of premium US and UK content to New Zealand audiences across TVNZ’s free-to-air and digital platforms, following their theatrical, home entertainment and pay windows.

Under the multi-year agreement, TVNZ has secured a curated mix of new television series as well as film and television titles from Sony Pictures’ catalogue, including upcoming shows The Miniature Wife and Dear England

World-class stories

“We’re pleased to renew our longstanding relationship with TVNZ and continue delivering a diverse slate of premium television and film content to audiences across New Zealand,” says Adam Herr, SVP, distribution, Asia-Pacific, SPT. “TVNZ is an important platform in the market, and this agreement reflects our shared focus on bringing high-quality storytelling to viewers wherever they are.”

TVNZ’s chief news and content officer Nadia Tolich says: “Our long‑standing partnership with Sony Pictures Television brings New Zealanders even more of the world‑class stories they love. From must‑see new series to iconic film franchises, this renewed deal cements TVNZ’s partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment, bringing more of Sony’s premium entertainment content free to audiences right across Aotearoa, however they choose to watch with us.”

The agreement features new series such as The Other Bennet SisterUp to No Good and Lord of the Flies, as well as theatrical releases such as Bad Boys: Ride or Die and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.

It also includes The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2Men in Black I, II and III, and The Karate Kid I, II and III, alongside television series like The NannyDamages and Rescue Me.
