In a ‘Special Event’ Facebook Live video, similar to an Apple announcement, McDonald’s has announced a new Chocolate Shamrock shake and a game-changing straw to match.
With the new shake featuring a dual layer of chocolate and mint, McDonald’s teamed up with a “real team of actual super-duper smart aerospace engineers,” according to the presenter Austin Evans, to create a new straw that will allow for both flavours to be enjoyed at once.
The result, is the Suction Tube for Reverse Axial Withdrawal (straw for short), which Evans describes as both a “spectacularly unnecessary innovation” and a “technological breakthrough that will forever change the world of shakes” as it allows for an even amount of each flavour to be consumed at once.
Evans added the straw to the list of other innovations by McDonald’s, including the all-day breakfast, updated McNuggets and Big Macs, and bottles of Big Mac sauce.
To prove how good the straw is, it’s giving away 2000 straws while the Chocolate Shamrock shake is available. We understand it won’t be a feature on the New Zealand menu.
