LUMO lights up Welly with new LED screen

LUMO Digital Outdoor has strengthened its foothold in Wellington following the unveiling of its latest digital screen at one of the capital’s busiest thoroughfares.

The new placement sits on an embankment in Thorndon Quay, also known as the Wellington Gateway due to its position on the Southern Motorway (SH1). The area is a major entry point into the city with over 70,000 commuters heading along the SH1 daily.

The screen will be LUMO’s largest traffic volume site to date, followed closely by screens on Stanley Street, Auckland (45,293) and Colombo Street, Christchurch (39,156).

After four years of coveting the high traffic volume area, LUMO takes ownership effective 1 September. It becomes Lumo’s 10th new screen this year and its 35th location across the country.

Co-Founder and CEO Phil Clemas says: “This digital billboard is the largest and highest profile screen in Wellington, seen daily by more people than any other digital billboard in the country. It was the first and remains the only consented digital billboard in NZ that sits alongside a busy motorway.”

The addition brings the LUMO Wellington portfolio up to four screens, including property on Customhouse Quay, Vivian Street, The Terrace and another due on Wakefield Street in October.

Having wanted to expand further into the Wellington region for years, LUMO has been patient in broadening its network until the best locations were found.

Co-Founder Kent Harrison adds: “This Wellington property represents LUMO’s unwavering optimism and their on-going digital asset investment plans across the country, particularly in Wellington. Adding this screen to our repertoire shows we’re here for serious business. We’re dedicated to making bold moves and long plays to own the best locations across the country, in order to provide maximum opportunities for advertisers.”
