Out-of-home company Go Media have been announced as New Zealand Rugby’s official supporter for the inaugural WXV 1 tournament.
Considered a new era for international women’s rugby, the tournament will run over three weeks across the country, with the first game played on October 20.
Andrea Rongonui, Director of Go Media says: “We are one of the biggest supporters of Women’s Rugby in Aotearoa through our sponsorship of teams in the Bunnings Warehouse Farah Palmer Cup and Sky Super Rugby Aupiki, and with the final round of WXV 1 taking place at Go Media Stadium Mt Smart on 3 and 4 of November, we immediately wanted to be involved when NZ Rugby approached us.
“With a rematch of last year’s Rugby World Cup final against England as the final game of the tournament we are in for a real treat.”
NZR Head of Tournaments and Competitions Cameron Good says the match schedule couldn’t be more exciting.
“It’s impossible not to immediately reflect on the memories of the Rugby World Cup and the thrilling matches we witnessed in 2022 and I’m sure the fans and players will have the same feelings as they look over the match schedule for WXV 1. We are excited that Go Media is now an Official Supporter to help promote the tournament and we appreciate the support they give the women’s game in New Zealand,” says Good.
Star Black Ferns wing Ruby Tui has been named for the reigning world champions , as part of the doubled-header on Saturday 21 October, when they take on France at 7:00pm in a replay of last year’s thrilling Rugby World Cup semi-final, following on from the Canada v Wales match that kicks off at 4:00pm.
