A frightening new virtual world

A new video posted by YouTube user Marc Tschudi is a scary glimpse into what the Oculus Rift virtual reality gaming experience could become in the hands of new owner Facebook.

When two gamers try their newly-purchased, Facebook-branded headset for the first time, they’re forced to buy FarmCoins to speed respawning, get shot by their opponent when a status update blocks their view and be served sponsored posts when they go through the process of choosing a car.

Although this footage is a satirical mashup, it’s likely to send chills through Oculus fans everywhere.
