Flying Fish director Christine Jeffs invited to join the Oscars Academy

Flying Fish is celebrating the international recognition of its director Christine Jeffs, who’s been invited into the Academy of Motion Pictures this week.

The Oscars organisation this week sent an invitation to Jeffs to join its prestigious collection, which consists of over 7,000 people working in cinema.

Her most notable work includes directing Sunshine CleaningSylvia and Rain, and Flying Fish managing director and executive producer James Moore says to have her work recognised and to be invited to sit alongside incredible and international names is very commending.

“Her work (Sunshine Cleaning, Sylvia) speaks volumes and to be acknowledged amongst such a strong calibre of her contemporaries is really rewarding.”

Jeffs was joined on the invitees list by directors Tom Ford (Nocturnal Animals), and Guy Ritchie (Sherlock Holmes), and actors Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Sarah Paulson (Blue Jay), Sienna Miller (The Lost City of Z) and Amy Poehler (Inside Out) to name a few.

Beyond films, Jeffs’ commercial work includes BP’s ‘My BP Story’ and NZTA’s ‘Understand’. Flying Fish welcomed Jeffs to its roster in February this year.
