Fans melt over Game of Thrones premiere date

HBO has announced the premiere date of Game of Thrones season seven, however, rather than coming straight out with it, the date was frozen in a block of ice for fans to uncover.

Shared in a Facebook live video, the huge block of ice sat in front of two flamethrowers that were activated by fans commenting ‘fire’ or ‘dracarys’—a phrase used in the programme to encourage dragons to breathe fire.

If the fans’ excitement wasn’t enough, two minutes into the video, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (who plays the character Jamie Lannister) appeared alongside the ice cube to tell fans: “You’ll want to see what’s under the ice, trust me.”

And they did, with over 198,000 comments keeping the flame alive for over 14 minutes to reveal the date 7/16/17.
