Digital advertising revenue hits 1.26 billion in 2019

IAB NZ has released its digital advertising revenue report, with a healthy growth of 13 percent seen across the sector for 2019.

Now sitting at $1.26 billion for the full year of 2019, digital advertising is seen as moving from strength to strength.

Q4 2019 reached $344 million, following nine consecutive quarters of double-digit increases, achieving 11 percent growth on the same quarter in 2018.

The data is drawn from the IABNZ’s Digital Advertising Revenue Report released today by the IABNZ and Baker Tilly Staples Rodway.

Channel growth was lead by Social, with over 23 percent growth in 2019 on the previous year, followed by Search at almost 16 percent, Classified and Directories at 4.6 percent and Total Display at almost 4 percent.

In 2019, year-on-year, General Display increased by 5.3 percent, however Audio topped Total Display channel with growth of 31.1 percent, followed by sponsorship at 15.6 percent.

The largest shift in Total Display variance by advertising category, was Government Departments, Services and Communities, recording a year-on-year increase of 70 percent in 2019, following closely by Agricultural, Forestry and Fishing at 69 percent.

Total Mobile (Smartphone and Tablet) grew by 22.5 percent in 2019 and just over 25 percent in Q4 2019.
