A creepy twist

We’ve all heard the warnings – don’t talk to strangers online.

However, as Spanish mobile company Movistar points out in a short film by Y&R Mexico, those warnings are going unheard.

The film follows a teenage boy and girl who, despite never meeting before, become friends on social media and start talking. They even share pictures.

After a while, the girl instigates a meeting saying she will wear pink and he will wear a black jacket.

However, when they arrive, it’s revealed the boy and girl are two mature men. After a glance at each other, both move on and go home to what we can only hope is deleting their fake profiles.

are 150 million fake profiles live on social media the add states at the end, so it’s almost no surprise two of them stumbled across each other.

“For the first part of the film, we wanted the audience to feel that adrenaline of being 13 years old and meeting someone you like,” director Andrew Lang told Adweek. “Then … the biggest shock possible when the two kids are revealed to be old men. Overall, we want kids to be more careful about who they befriend online. Although I’m sure most kids wouldn’t launch into an online relationship as eagerly as these two do, some do, and the consequences can be dire. In researching the film, I read some horrific stories which started much the way the film does.”
