Comms Council calls for action with industry census on inclusivity

The Comms Council is launching an industry wide census survey to measure the current makeup of the workforce, and identify how inclusive it really is.

Advertising reflects and informs culture, so to be truly effective, the industry itself needs to be fully representative of all the cultures within which it operates, says the Comms Council.

“We’re asking every industry professional – in agencies large and small, marketing departments, media organisations and production companies – to take 20 minutes to complete the survey. We aim to identify the areas where meaningful action is most needed,” says Simon Lendrum, the council’s CEO.

“It’s an opportunity to have your voice heard, tell us how you feel, what’s working, and what isn’t.”

The Comms Council will be sharing the results of the census in April, building action plans and working groups to work towards an industry that is fully inclusive and ultimately, fully representative of Aotearoa’s rich diversity.
