Colenso BBDO, OMD and DDB win big at Campaign Asia-Pacific Awards

New Zealand agencies had a lot to celebrate in Singapore overnight as Colenso BBDO, OMD and DDB won gold in the agency categories at the Campaign Asia Pacific Agency of the Year Awards.

Holding firmly onto the New Zealand Media Agency of the Year Award was OMD, which picked it up for the fourth year in a row, followed by Vizeum and PHD, which claimed silver and bronze respectively.

OMD CEO Kath Watson says the win is a testament to the hard work and commitment of a large number of incredibly talented people who “fearlessly pursue excellence” on behalf of its clients.

“Their passion and curiosity compels us to be better each day,” she says.

The celebrations continued for DDB in the digital agency category, as it took gold for New Zealand Digital Agency of the Year, also for the second year in a row, while Colenso BBDO/Proximity picked up silver and Special Group received bronze.

DDB chief executive Justin Mowday says, in this day and age, to be recognised as the best digital agency in the country, again, is brilliant.

“We’ve been investing in digital talent for some time, with a team of over 50 across the building, who deliver world-class digital strategy and implementation for our clients. To win this accolade, on top of being credited last week for the Best Facebook Campaign in the world according to Mashable, is great endorsement for the team,” he says.

Last week DDB received a ‘Mashie’ for the Best Facebook Campaign for its ‘Westpac Chopper – Handheld Rescue‘.

Colenso BBDO also had a second win to celebrate as it picked up gold for New Zealand Creative Agency of the Year, for the second year in a row, while silver went to DDB and bronze to FCB.

Colenso’s win follows its recent Grand Effie win for DB Breweries’ ‘Brewtroleum’ campaign, alongside two gold, one silver and two bronze awards.

StopPress has contacted Colenso for comment and will update the story accordingly.

The remaining independent, PR and specialist categories saw local agencies thrown into the mix with Australian agencies. Eleven PR was the only New Zealand agency to receive a mention for its bronze, in the PR Agency of the Year category.

Australia also had a clean sweep in the people categories.
