Associates rise at Bettle & Associates

Hamilton-based brand and marketing agency Bettle & Associates has broadened its ownership with directors Will Peart and Adam Lurman each taking a 25 percent share in the business.

The agency was founded in 2001 and Peart and Lurman have been directors for three years since they returned to the agency after a decade of leading the agency team in Australia and Tauranga respectively.

“It has been a productive and rewarding few years since Will and Adam rejoined the agency,” Bettle says.

“We work well together, and I really love the quality of work we are doing. It was a no brainer to let them buy into the business, after all, it is as much theirs as it is mine these days”.

“We’re Hamilton based, but global” Peart says. The agency holds global marketing responsibilities for Swedish agricultural giant DeLaval, and national relationships with leading NZ brands like Fonterra, Farm Source, Challenge Fuel, CAL>Isuzu, Soudal Gorilla, Mt Ruapehu and most recently partnering with another iconic brand, Beaurepaires.

“There’s also a lot of growth in the local economy, so it’s exciting to be involved with Waikato business leaders and some real international success stories like DEC and TRT and scale ups that are growing quickly,” says Peart.

“But as an agency, we’ve been growing carefully,” he says of the agency’s portfolio. “We’ve been lucky enough to have been invited to partner with clients who value our way of thinking – strong, enduring brand ideas and smart, accountable marketing. And then we’ve built the tools and team and business around just that.”

“I guess Will and I came back into the agency at the same time for the same reason, and we’ve both taken a slice of it for the same reason,” says Lurman.

“We’re working hard, doing the kind of work that is building our reputation. Smart work, beautiful work, interesting business transformation and customer experience-based work. That reputation that George has been building, well, forever – client work that focuses on outcomes – is the thing we’re all invested in continuing to grow.”

B&A has a team of 15 and works out of arguably Hamilton’s most architecturally impressive working space, hanging over the Waikato River. “Great team of professionals, great space, great partnerships,” says Peart.

“So, we’re happy to be fully invested. But, like everyone right now, we’ve got a couple of key spaces to fill to continue to deliver and to scale.”
