Are you having a laugh? That’ll be 48 cents please

A comedy club in Barcelona is experimenting with a new way of charging patrons. On a per laugh basis.

After a large tax increase on shows and dwindling crowds, one comedy club has started charging punters €0.30 per laugh (around $0.48 in NZD) with €24 being the maximum charge.

The comedy club uses tablets on the back of the seats and a facial recognition software to tell well someone is laughing. The club is receiving record crowds and many other comedy clubs have followed suit.

Its almost as if they are moving towards the pay per click model Google uses for its web ads.
