Sweetshop promotes Fiona King, welcomes Kate Roydhouse

There’s been a couple of movements in local production companies this week, with Sweetshop New Zealand announcing Fiona King’s promotion to director of productions and the appointment of Kate Roydhouse to co-executive producer.

King, previously managing director of Sweetshop New Zealand, will now work to grow the company’s global brand initiatives and entertainment division as director of productions.

The role is positioned to work alongside chairman and founding partner Paul Prince and global executive producer and founding partner Sharlene George. As Sweetshop strengthens its entertainment channels, the new division broadens platforms for its roster to express their creativity and craft.

Meanwhile, Roydhouse has been appointed to work alongside Ben Dailey as co-executive producers leading Sweetshop New Zealand.

Most recently, Roydhouse has been working as managing director and executive producer of Curious Film since returning to New Zealand from London last year.

About the appointments, Wilf Sweetland, global CEO, says as brands and entertainment come closer together, King will be invaluable in supporting the company as it fosters projects in this new arena.

He adds it’s also excited to be welcoming Roydhouse as a co-executive producer working alongside Dailey.

“They make a cracking team – very Ying and Yang – and to have them both lead our Auckland office is a great privilege.”
