Special PR welcomes Darkhorse founder Liam Taylor

Darkhorse co-founder Liam Taylor will be joining the team at Special PR as Business Development Director in its Auckland office, from May 12.

Liam, who co-founded global brand and experiential agency Darkhorse in 2012, has stepped down as creative director and founder.

His remit at Special PR will be to bolster the success of the agency’s existing New Zealand portfolio, while driving significant growth and new business opportunities.

Taylor’s aptitude for driving effective change, challenging the status quo and creating an organisational culture that fosters high-performing teams will make him an incredible addition to the team.

Special PR Managing Director Kelly Grindle says, “Special PR experienced rapid growth in its infancy, and as we shift into this next phase, we want to do so responsibly. This means investing strategically in our senior leadership for the benefit of our team and clients.”

“We couldn’t think of anyone more suited for the role than Liam. His depth of experience and creative brilliance will help further cement Special PR’s work as a global benchmark for the industry.”

A new chapter

Taylor says he’s excited to be joining Special PR at such a pivotal time.

“Building an agency from the ground up was an incredibly rewarding experience that connected me with outstanding people and clients. Now feels like the perfect moment to step into a new chapter with Special PR. I’ve long admired their ability to marry strategic insight with world-class creative execution, and I’m looking forward to being part of their ambitious and growing team.”

Liam’s appointment marks the latest in a run of senior hires, with former Mango Experiential Group Business Director Jessica McColl joining the team earlier this year as Head of Brand Experience.
