Silverstripe appoints Co-founder as new CEO

Technology provider Silverstripe has announced the appointment of Co-founder and Director Sigurd Magnusson as CEO.

Magnusson is tasked with revitalising the Kiwi company which works with many of Aotearoa’s government agencies and leading brands. He will focus on driving innovation and steering Silverstripe’s growth in the ever-evolving digital landscape.

Magnusson, who co-founded Silverstripe in 2000, has worked in every corner of the business—from programming to strategic sales and marketing—and played a crucial role in securing an all-of-government contract, a milestone that helped elevate Silverstripe’s position in the market.

After stepping away to pursue new challenges, Magnusson gained valuable leadership experience across corporate, council, and central government sectors over the past eight years.

“It’s an exciting time for Silverstripe, and I’m honoured to step into this role,” says Magnusson.

“The experience I’ve gained across sectors has broadened my perspective, and I’m looking forward to leveraging that to help Silverstripe stay ahead of the curve. With our team’s expertise, we can unlock new opportunities and push the boundaries of what we deliver in the digital space.”

Magnusson’s appointment follows the departure of Tobias Oschwald, who led Silverstripe through challenging economic conditions, maintaining the company’s stability and resilience during his three-year tenure.

The Board has expressed full confidence in Magnusson’s leadership and vision for the company’s future.

“As a co-founder and director, Sigurd has been integral to Silverstripe’s success from the beginning,” says Alasdair Macleod, Chairman of the Board. “We’re confident that his leadership will drive our continued success and expand our ability to deliver exceptional digital solutions.”
