New Zealand Geographic has announced the appointment of Ben Fahy as the title’s commercial lead.
With over 15 years experience as a journalist, editor and publisher, Fahy will now look to use his industry knowledge to help develop the magazine’s brand partnerships, advertising sales, sponsorship and native content production.
Winning Magazine of the Year at the Voyager Media Awards for the past four years in a row, New Zealand Geographic commands the largest audience of any magazine in New Zealand.
Publisher James Frankham says that this appointment signals a brave new direction for the magazine and a new opportunity for premium brands seeking to align with a trusted masthead.
“New Zealand Geographic has gone from strength to strength in the past ten years, growing our audience and influence at a time when traditional media has been struggling,” says Frankham.
“But we need to continue to add value for clients. In his previous roles, Ben has been able to maintain high editorial standards while also finding clever, authentic ways to involve partners. We couldn’t be more proud to have him aboard and contributing to the kaupapa.”
Fahy says that he has been a long-time admirer of the magazine’s unwavering commitment to quality and passion for the environment.
“It’s an honour to join the team and take this innovative media company to the next level of engagement with our commercial partners,” says Fahy.
Fahy takes over from Miles Gandy who has represented the title in the market for 10 years. Gandy, however, remains associated with the title leading the sales team at Ovato Media Bureau where clients can combine the power of New Zealand Geographic into an advertising campaign across a suite of magazine titles now reaching some 1.6 million New Zealanders.
