Movings/Shakings: 2 March

Stepping up

Last week Sovereign announced the departure of chief marketing officer Chris Lamers and now it’s confirmed Len Elikhis will lead a newly-created product and marketing department.

Stepping up from his role as chief officer of product, Elikhis will now be chief product and marketing officer. About the new position and department, he said:

“Product and marketing work closely so bringing these functions together allows us to deliver some great synergies and to be more responsive to the changing needs of our customers…. Sovereign’s product, marketing and customer analytics teams are great at what they do and have launched some extraordinary initiatives in recent years. I’m proud to lead such a driven and creative team and I’m excited to realise the benefits of the teams coming together.”

Elikhis joined the insurance company since 2014, and has since been responsible for the design and pricing of Sovereign’s health and life insurance products.

Bright spark

Spark PR & Activate has announced the appointment of Chris Lloyd to the role of head of content and social.

In the role, Lloyd will be working as the content and social expert for Spark PR & Activate as well as the broader PHD Group.

About the appointment, Spark PR & Activate general manager Dallas Gurney said:

“There is no shortage of content, there is a shortage of good content. Chris is a class act, but more than that he’s a content guy. He knows what will work and what won’t. It’s that level of confidence we can offer our clients – they won’t waste money on content that doesn’t move the dial.”

Lloyd brings with him experience from his most recent role of head of business development in the Mediaworks integration team. There, he was responsible for cohesive campaigns across radio, television and digital and led award-winning work for clients like Heineken, Frucor and Vodafone.

Lloyd will start the new role 27 March.

Foreign connection

99 has a new digital creative director, following the appointment of Jared Isle.

The agency branched out of New Zealand to search for an appointment, and Isle joins from the Unites Stated where he spent the last six years. Most recently, he worked as associate creative director at McCann New York following a stint at FCB New York.

And being from New Zealand, Isle also has experience in senior positions in local agencies.

He brings with him numerous accolades on his resume, with a highlight being his work featured in the Top 50 Advertising Campaigns of the Century for the iconic Oreo’s 100-day ‘Daily Twist’ campaign.

99 founder and chief creative officer Craig Whitehead is stoked to have someone of Isle’s pedigree in the team.

“He brings to us that rare mix of outstanding conceptual ability, digital design excellence and technical expertise. 99 has gone through a massive shift in the past year, from specialist retail creative and production powerhouse, to a customer experience agency with retail at our heart. On the back of other significant appointments like Greg Forsyth and Dan Bye, it’s an exciting time to be part of the new 99.”

Isle will be heavily involved with 99’s team of conceptual creatives, leading the ever expanding digital experience and design teams, as well as working closely with the recently created Newsroom, 99’s editorial content marketing service.
