HMC welcomes Kayla McQuade as visual communication specialist

Hamilton-based PR agency HMC has appointed Kayla McQuade as visual communication specialist.

McQuade joins HMC, following a year spent freelancing where her creative work included creating paintings, illustrations and design.

“After accomplishing my bachelor’s degree in visual communication at WINTEC and completing a 10-week paid internship, I dove into freelance full time,” says McQuade.

“I’ve always had a creative streak – from growing up with a pencil, paper and paint brush in my hand, to later discovering digital art. From there I developed a passion for graphic design and have always loved to tell stories through visual communication.

“After being on my own for a year, it’s been great to join the HMC team. I feel at home here. I have a real sense of purpose being able to create visual work for HMC clients,” McQuade adds.

HMC founder and managing director Heather Claycomb says visual communication has become an essential offering at the agency.

“When I started HMC 21 years ago, clients would come to us with challenges and the solution inevitably involved the written word.

“While the written word remains important, even more important is bringing those words to life in a visual and creative way. We are working with clients to use graphic design, illustration, animation, video and more to educate, raise awareness and influence. Kayla’s skills are helping us do that in a way that benefits our clients,” says Claycomb.
