Hello, We are Frank and Mitre 10 make new senior appointments

A round-up of this week’s Movings and Shakings.

We are Frank hires UX lead

UX expert, Harry Sturt has been snapped up as senior user experience and design lead at the creative ad agency, We Are Frank.

Sturt says the offer from the local digital ad-tech and creative agency was too good to pass up. “Joining the phenomenal We Are Frank team is an absolute dream. Operating within an independent Kiwi business, I now have the creative freedom to build innovative experiences that users want to engage with,” he says.

CEO, Ben Searancke, says that this latest hire represents an exciting time as his company evolves to meet the changing needs of clients.

“We were very lucky to find Harry. It wasn’t easy to find someone with his specific skill set and award-winning experience. We’ve got 18 developers across We Are Frank and our Partner business DoubleYolk, who are continually evolving our software, but it was essential to find a UX specialist who could help bring those ideas to life and improve the digital advertising experiences for the humans we’re advertising to.”

Hello appoints new GM

Independent creative agency, Hello has appointed Ngaio McCreadie (née Pardon) as general manager.

McCreadie brings to the Britomart-based agency a wealth of local and international experience, and joins the agency after a decade abroad. She has recently returned from Australia, after successfully launching global offices for 72andSunny in Sydney and Singapore, as part of the executive team.

“We’ve known each other for twenty years and we’re thrilled to bring her on board to helm our next phase of growth,” says James Polhill, Managing Director, Hello. “I’ve admired Ngaio from afar and followed her career with interest as she’s championed and developed world-class creative thinking across the globe.”

In 2010, McCreadie was the youngest member of staff invited to sit on the board as partner at BBH London, where she led some of the world’s biggest brands from Lynx and Johnnie Walker to ASOS and The Guardian, delivering the iconic Three Little Pigs campaign.

Locally, McCreadie has worked at Publicis Mojo on Coca Cola, before climbing the ranks at Colenso BBDO, where she led highly awarded work for Fonterra and Yellow Pages, including the internationally acclaimed Yellow Treehouse.

“I’m loving being home and delighted to join Hello as they embark on their fourth year of business,” says McCreadie. “I’ve always looked for roles that provide opportunity to both lead and work side-by-side with smart, nice people who have a shared creative ambition. I’m excited to help build a business where creative, performance and talent are at the heart of the company.”

McCreadie joins the senior team of fourteen.

Mitre 10’s CX gets a boost

Mitre 10 has announced two new appointments to its executive leadership team (ELT).

Andrea Scown, formerly GM retail operations and an existing ELT member, has been promoted to chief customer experience officer, and award-winning people leader Anna Campbell has been appointed chief People & capability officer. Both bring exceptionally strong leadership skills and a talent for inspiring teams.

Before joining Mitre 10 three years ago, Scown held executive leadership positions at major retailers SFG, Ezibuy and Bendon, and spent several years in the private equity sector. She is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Director. Her vision for the future of Mitre 10 is ‘omni’, harnessing digital connection to bring together and humanise the customer experience across all channels and touchpoints.

Campbell’s passion for NZ-owned businesses and those that contribute to their communities was a key factor in her decision to join Mitre 10. A seasoned senior executive and director, she brings the ability to marry commercial acumen with kindness and culture to create great experiences for teams and customers.

Her career as a people leader includes several years with The Warehouse Group before she became CEO of FAB Group, one of NZ’s most successful beauty businesses and owner of the Caci Clinic franchise. She counts leading the first team in New Zealand to implement domestic violence leave, before it was mandated by law, as one of her proudest moments.

Of her new role, she says her approach will hold the customer at the centre of everything, with culture orienting around. “Retail is all about people. Creating an awesome customer experience comes from the team and how they feel about the business.”
