Bastion bolsters design capability with senior appointments

Bastion Aotearoa has bolstered its design capability with a series of senior appointments, reflecting a commitment to creating work that is both beautiful and memorable.

Tom Addison joins as senior design director, bringing global experience across Tribal DDB, London Saatchi & Saatchi, Colenso, Principals and Designworks.

His appointment strengthens Bastion’s design leadership at a time when clients are demanding sharper, more distinctive brand thinking.

Deeply experienced team

Billy Baxter joins as senior designer. A multi-disciplinary creative with more than 20 years’ experience across the UK, Switzerland, Australia and Aotearoa, she brings a strong balance of craft and conceptual thinking across brand, advertising and digital.

Justin Koh and Marc Streeter join as senior artworkers, adding deep production expertise across digital and print. With backgrounds at DDB and Stanley St respectively, they further strengthen Bastion’s ability to deliver high-quality, integrated work at pace.

Sarah Pickles joins as design studio manager, bringing experience from Alt Group, Designworks and global roles in London. Her focus on studio operations and delivery ensures the team is set up to perform at a consistently high standard.

Incredible talent

Bastion head of design Danny Carlsen says: “After a raft of fantastic new business wins, we have been able to fill our boots with some incredible talent. From Tom and Billy strengthening our design leadership, ideation and dedication to craft, to the production expertise and cleverness of Justin and Marc, Sarah Pickles brings an A class game to wrangle the troops and workflow.”

CEO Toby Sellers adds: “Design is where brand strategy becomes visceral, it’s the difference between a business that’s noticed and one that’s remembered. These appointments reflect our commitment to building a design capability that doesn’t just execute beautifully but genuinely puts our clients in a position of strength. When you work with the breadth of business we have across corporate, government and consumer, you need a design team that can move across all of it without missing a beat. That’s exactly what we’ve built.”
