Happy Friday and here is the news for today: Stuff has announced 15 of its community newspapers are set to close at the end of the month as the media company aims to focus on its digital future. Proposals are still being finalised but it will likely see just under 15 job losses. In other news, earlier this week, Stuff announced that its partnership deal with Trade Me is now finalised, seeing Trade Me branding appear across its website. Meanwhile, ThinkTV GM - Communications Jacqueline Freeman discusses why media planners need to think differently when it comes to Aotearoa - "we're not just a mini America", she says.
Social media agency Academy has launched an initiative, IN-HOUSE, to provide affordable marketing support to local Kiwi businesses. The initiative provides guides and other resources that can be purchased for $30-50 - already, Academy says it has received lots of positive feedback.
Strategic marketing agency Quantum Jump has jumped opened a new office across the ditch in Sydney and appointed Rachel Wintle as its general manager. MBM has promoted Edd Lucas to general manager of its Wellington office and Bastion has promoted Cheuk Chiang to the group CEO position. Scott Hughes, formerly of Scroll Media, has just joined Melbourne-based Interplay Media, who is setting up shop in Aotearoa for the first time.
