Celebrating the Rainbow Nation with real rainbows

To commemorate two decades of South African democracy, Coca Cola created a series of real rainbows, which arched over the billboards throughout the city. Conceptualised and executed by FCB South Africa, the colourful additions to the sky were produced using sunlight, water and “a bunch of fancy calculations”.

And in order to answer the pressing question of what lies at the end of the rainbow, FCB also extended the magic onto the ground, where passersby could gather to get a closer look.

Once people started taking note of the outdoor activations, FCB then proceeded to capture their reactions. And the resultant compilation of smiling faces, street dancing and adorable babies certainly offers a heartwarming summary of what the milestone means to the country.
