Why employers should apply mindfulness principles to fight our work stress crisis

With sick leave costs rapidly spiralling out of control due to work-related stress and burnout, mindfulness expert and former ad agency-owner Marisa Garau is bewildered to see how little Kiwi employers do to reduce stress on the work floor. CEO’s and business owners should stop attending shallow management workshops, since these have proven not to work at all: more than 30 percent of employees in New Zealand feel their level of stress has risen in the past five years. Instead, business leaders would be wise to apply a few sensible and highly practical mindfulness principles and help their employees grow into a self-confident, engaged and productive work force.
