The finalists of the NZ Direct Marketing Awards have been announced and perennial award-hoggers Colenso BBDO/Proximity are in the lead with 18 nods, followed by justONE/.99 with 16, FCB with ten, and Chemistry Interaction with eight.
Affinity ID is next on six, Barnes Catmur & Friends, Twenty, Young & Shand and Rapp all have five and Federation has four.
Westpac New Zealand, AA Insurance and Foodstuffs New Zealand are in the running for The Keith Norris Direct Marketing Organisation of the Year; Air New Zealand’s Annabelle Fowler, Spark’s Bonnie Law, Foodstuffs’ Emily Blumenthal and Heart Foundation’s Gail McIntyre are up for the Direct Marketer of the Year; and two teams from AUT and one from Otago University are gunning for the NZ Post Student Marketer of the Year Award.
The NZDM Awards consist of industry sector categories that enable campaigns to be assessed against their competitors, and channel awards that represent the multi-channel environment direct marketers operate in. All this year’s industry and channel gold award recipients will be judged by a panel of industry experts who will decide which campaign has risen to the top.
“The competition was stronger than ever this year, with a 19 percent increase in the number of overall entries and the industry and channel awards each recording over a 30 percent increase in entries,” says Marketing Association chief executive Michael Pryor. “It’s also evident to see the depth of investment that organisations are putting into the engine room of direct, digital and interactive marketing with Nexus entries 25 percent up on last year. With recent Supreme winners (V Motion and iSite Media) held up as the benchmarks of excellence, our judges will have their hands full this year selecting another deserving winner from among the finalists.”
For the first time and in response to industry feedback, winners of the craft awards that celebrate the ‘art’ of the individual elements within response marketing, will be recognised with gold, silver or bronze.
