Dressed to the (ca)nines in Karen Walker

Karen Walker’s campaign for her new season range of eyewear features the obligatory stunning model. But it’s a lot hairier and toothless than usual and it marks the first time the brand has used a ‘celebrity’.

As almost every brand/media company in the world has proven, animals in ads are an almost guaranteed route to success/clicks. And judging by the social media feedback, Toast, a King Charles with “no teeth like a cute hobo”, is another prime example of that.

As it says on Karen Walker’s Instagram: “This season sees KW using a celebrity as the face of the brand for the first time. This gorgeous redhead’s story is a true Cinderella one. She was discovered living in cruel circumstances, rescued and quickly rocketed to fame thanks to her wonderful looks, charming personality and inimitable sense of humour. She’s been a big fan of #KarenWalkerEyewear for many seasons and is often seen rocking her KWs on the streets of NYC. This season’s star is, of course, @ToastMeetsWorld!”

In a response to Elle, a Karen Walker spokesperson said: “Toast and Karen forged a mutual love, respect, and admiration. Karen, an animal lover in her own right, was captivated by the charismatic canine and concluded that it was a match made in heaven.”

Of course, dog glasses already exist (as does almost every imaginable product that could possibly make a pet’s life better). But they’re not nearly as stylish as Toast.
