Footlocker has harnessed the power of social media and NBA player James Harden by getting fans to submit personal requests for Harden via Twitter in a campaign called ‘Play my Tweet’. The best ones will be printed on a basketball and Harden has to shoot hoops with the ‘requests’. If he makes the shot, he’s safe but if he misses he will need to carry it out.
Fans in the US can tag @FootLocker and #PlayMyTweet for the chance to have Harden fulfill the request. Whether it’s sending a fan an autographed jersey, “singing happy birthday to your mum” or braiding his beard.
Harden will take shots with the printed basketballs with each shot’s difficulty level corresponding to the size of the request.
The campaign is by BBDO New York.
A video has been released with Harden explaining the campaign and giving a few request suggestions.
