Yo ho ho (and some bottles of rum)

Do you like fine rum? Do you like delicious food? Do you have a spare $1000? Then read on and your wildest rum, food and money related dreams could come true.

StopPress readers are renowned for their exemplary taste and penchant for all things super-rare. So, we thought you’d be interested to know that there are a few bottles of Appleton Estate 30 Year Old Jamaican Rum, the world’s oldest commercially available rum, still available for purchase.

Only 1,440 bottles were produced in total, created from six casks of rum that have been in storage from 1978 or earlier, and just 30 of these $1000 bottles are available in New Zealand.

Not only will purchasers own one of the finest rums in the world, they’ll also get two tickets to an exclusive five-star dinner: Appleton Estate has joined forces with award-winning chef Geoff Scott, owner and chef of Auckland’s iconic Vinnies Restaurant (New Zealand Culinary Fare 2008 Restaurant of the Year), and those who purchase a bottle of the good stuff will be invited to attend a five-star dinner event on Tuesday 16 March at Auckland’s Kelliher Estate.

Buyers of the Appleton Estate 30 Year Old will receive two tickets. So if you’re interested in nabbing one of the last remaining bottles, email [email protected] with your name, address and telephone number by 4pm Friday 12 March. The bottles will be allocated by ballot on Friday at 5pm and recipients notified immediately.
