STIHL appoints True as brand agency

Independent agency True has been appointed the brand agency for STIHL and STIHL Shop in New Zealand following a competitive pitch.

STIHL managing director Jochen Speer says True were awarded the business on the strength of their creative and consumer insights.

“We were very impressed by True’s strategic thinking, solid creative and in-depth understanding of the prevailing Kiwi cultural codes. Our ambition was to find an agency who would truly work alongside us in partnership,” Speer says.

An international company, STIHL was founded in Germany in the 1920s, and has supplied New Zealanders with chainsaws and power tools for decades.

True chief executive Matt Dickinson says the agency is thrilled to be working with a brand so loved by generations of Kiwis.

“STIHL is a dream client. The best products, amazing in-store experience and a long history of creating some of New Zealand’s most-loved and enduring advertising campaigns. We can’t wait to get started on working with the team at STIHL to write the next chapter of their iconic story,” Dickinson says.

The account has previously been held by DDB Group for 12 years. True’s appointment is effective immediately.
