Sky, the holder of RWC 2023 broadcast rights in NZ, has revealed that Prime will air the tournament’s free-to-air coverage.
This move guarantees Kiwis can support their cherished team, the All Blacks, as they compete against international rivals during the seven-week event.
Alongside Sky Sport’s live broadcasting of 48 matches, Prime will also showcase 12 matches, including six live broadcasts, offering captivating entertainment to our rugby-crazy nation.
Lauren Quaintance, Sky’s newly appointed Chief Media and Data Officer, says 2023 is a year to remember.
“World Cups are pinnacle events that draw a large number of passionate viewers. Sky is thrilled to also be screening the 2023 Cricket World Cup, 2023 Netball World Cup and the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup this year.

In 2022, Prime, which is Sky’s largest platform, was viewed by 3,467,900 New Zealanders, while 2,907,000 viewers tuned in to watch the 2015 RWC on Sky and Prime.
Prime’s rebranded identity now highlights the best of Sky’s entertainment content, as well as free-to-air sports and award-winning local Sky Originals programs.
