Red Bull brings BMX cool to Peugeot

Red Bull has launched its shiny new poster boy for the Peugeot 208 GTI, Jaden Leeming, in a new web and TVC campaign made in house.

Red Bull’s local comms manager Jon Forder produced the clips with freelance director Ryan Heron, who is now represented by Flying Fish. Mandy was on post-production.

The 90 second version was made for its web channels while 15 and 30 second cuts will soon hit TV screens.

The campaign pitches 19-year-old BMX athlete Jaden Leeming against the 208 GTI in a series of stunts in a dramatically lit warehouse.

“Typically, car companies produce sterile commercials that are all about the car and nothing else, so it was really good to be able to do something like this for the first ad Peugeot has ever made in New Zealand,” Peugeot New Zealand manager Todd Groves says.

Leeming even got to swap his ageing Honda Civic for the sleek black Peugeot that features in the clip, complete with bike racks.

A behind the scenes clip is also up at www.redbull.co.nz.
