Raymond Otene McKay named on Cannes Lions Awards Jury

Raymond Otene McKay, CCO of RUN Aotearoa, has been named to the jury for one of the awards at the prestigious Cannes Lions.

Cannes Lions has announced the line-up of the global experts selected to serve on the 2024 Juries, including several Kiwis.

Convening in Cannes in June, they will help benchmark excellence across the world’s very best creative and effective work.

Otene McKay (Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Rongomaiwahine, Ngaati Maahuta) will serve on the Design Lions jury.

“When I first started in advertising nearly 20 years ago, Cannes Lions was a mystical place that only existed in a creative’s dreams, let alone for an indigenous Māori creative like myself. I’m very proud that come June, I’ll be living mine during the week of festivities in the south of France”, says Otene McKay.

He is joined by five other jury members from Aotearoa New Zealand.

Representing creative excellence in every sector and specialism of the industry – and from every corner of the globe – the Cannes Lions celebrate creativity in all its forms.

The Awarding Jury represents the global industry’s leading talent from a diverse range of disciplines, from across 54 markets – the highest number of markets ever represented on the Awarding Jury. Armenia, Ghana, Pakistan and Panama represented for the first time on the Awarding Jury.
