New Zealand Fashion Week launches first-ever podcast

New Zealand Fashion Week, produced in partnership with Viva, is launching its first-ever podcast, ‘This is a fashion show’.

Hosted by Sammy Salsa, NZFW and Viva will release seven episodes between Thursday, July 2 and Thursday, August 13.

The podcast features guests including industry experts, designers, content creators and stylists. NZFW developed it to provide value to its audience and bring them closer to the industry’s inner workings ahead of Fashion Week.

What’s covered

Over the course of seven weeks, the podcast will cover a range of topics, including:

  • Personal style and how to approach trends
  • Taking inspiration from the runway to your wardrobe
  • Cultural representation in fashion
  • The business of second hand and thrifting
  • Building communities that show up in real life
  • Celebrating 25 years of NZFW – what has made it successful, and what it needs to do to remain relevant in the future

For the everyday fashion lover

This podcast is designed for the everyday Aotearoa fashion lover, says Viva. It balances education with entertainment, light-hearted and easy listening with thoughtful commentary and insight.

Jasper Fulcher, NZME lifestyle managing editor, says: “Viva has always been New Zealand’s home of fashion content, and ‘This is a fashion show’ feels like a perfect expression of that.

“Partnering with New Zealand Fashion Week to bring this series to life is an exciting opportunity to share our content more widely, and we think our audience is going to love it.”

Releasing one episode every Thursday until NZFW on August 17, the podcast will be available in video format on viva.co.nz and YouTube, and in audio-only format on iHeart, Spotify and Apple Music.
