NBR goes fully digital

In an announcement made on NBR, the news website confirmed it has now moved to a fully digital-based subscription.

The platform had released a mobile app recently but made the decision to pull it and transfer all its content to a smartphone-only subscription.

NBR advisory board chairman Richard Bell said the take-up on the mobile app had been slower than they would have liked and now starring down the barrel of a pandemic lockdown, wanted to shift to something easier for readers.

Todd Scott said on Twitter earlier today that the pandemic had been hard on the business already.

“We’d prefer to make the investment in content because that’s what people are looking for,” he said.

Bell said as chairman he’s proud to say NBR has shifted from a newspaper business reliant on advertising to a fully integrated tech media business that has tripled its online revenue in the past 18 months.
