A record 34,301 entries from 87 countries have been submitted to the Cannes Lions 59th International Festival of Creativity, an overall increase of 19 percent versus last year. And, after a total of 347 entries from New Zealand across almost all of the 15 categories, the Kiwi contingent will be aiming to improve on its rather slim takings last year when things kick off in ten days.
There are two new categories this year, Mobile and Branded Content & Entertainment, which are added to Creative Effectiveness, Cyber, Design, Direct, Film, Film Craft, Media, Outdoor, PR, Press, Promo & Activation, Radio and Titanium & Integrated.
Creative effectiveness and Cyber were the only categories to chart declines, while PR, Radio, Film Craft, Direct and Promo and Activation had the biggest increases.
