Curiosity kickstarted the cat

US pet food brand Meow Mix has found a new way to appeal to cat lovers and investors alike. Catstarter is a crowdfunding vehicle, much like its better known cousin Kickstarter, that lets individuals back cat-related projects.

So far you can back a new kind of food dish, a food dispensing machine powered by tweets and a keyboard that warms your feline friend. The company says it will make the project that gets the most votes.

It’s also asked the public to come up with their own ideas, which include a mat that also weighs your cat and a sidecar that carries your pet on the arm of your office chair.
