Barfoot & Thompson bets the house on Big

Barfoot & Thompson, New Zealand's largest privately owned real estate company, has appointed Big Communications as its advertising and direct marketing agency, taking over from Voice.

Barfoot & Thompson are quite active on the above-the-line advertising front—especially outdoor—when compared to many of its competitors. And while Jen Baird, marketing manager of Barfoot & Thompson, says they were served well by its previous agency (the break-up came "to a mutual and amicable end", the release says), it needed to upgrade to a full service agency.

“We’ve been talking to Big since late last year and have been really impressed with how quickly they’ve come to understand our business," Baird says. "Barfoot & Thompson is a family-owned company with a rich heritage in Auckland and it is important that our agency partner understands our core values. Ant and the team at Big bring all the right experience and skills to the table."

Ant Salmon, managing director of Big Communications, which counts among its clients AMP, Auckland Rugby, Blues, Vision Senior Living, Vero and Skoda, says it is a long-held ambition to work with Barfoot & Thompson.
