Balls to that: ‘meaterological’ banner ad nets DDB a Bolly

New Zealanders love nothing more than talking about the weather. So DDB’s team of Jennie Ko, Pip Perkins and Regan Grafton tapped into that with Sky TV’s Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs online banner ad. And it was good enough to win the July IAB BollyAward. 

“Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs was simple, charming and really sweet,” said Levi Slavin, creative director, Colenso BBDO and one of the round’s judging panel. While Nigel Hammersley from VML said it was a “good creative idea executed with well-placed media”.

The team win a selection of New Zealand wine valued at over $500 plus some Champagne Bollinger, so Perkins and Ko, who were recently in Cannes battling for the Young Lions trophy, can relive those heady days.

The BollyAwards are all about encouraging great online creative. “Online creative in NZ has plenty of room for improvement and this is the first award given out this year so the team at DDB should be proud of their win,” says IAB’s general manager, Alisa Higgins.
