Taking the lead
The Dentsu Aegis Network ANZ has announced the new CEO of Carat Australia and New Zealand, with Paul Brooks taking over from Simon Ryan.
Brooks brings with him 20 years’ experience in both Australia and the UK and will be based in Sydney to head the 450 strong Carat team in Australia and New Zealand.
He has been part of DAN for the past three years, initially joining as Carat’s national head of investment and partnerships, before moving onto his most recent role as president of Amplifi, DAN’s media investment arm.
Ryan was promoted to CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network in February this year.
A wordy duo
FCB’s Social and fast online content offering, ‘The Hive’, has announced two key new hires.
Lauren Watling (left), joins from MediaWorks as producer and head of Hive content creation, and Laura Holyoake (right) joins from Y&R as social senior account manager.
Head of the FCB PR: activation: social and Hive team, Angela Spain, says the appointment of these new experienced team members gives FCB extra capacity to deliver content across social platforms for its clients.

Watling arrives at the Hive with extensive experience in creating collateral for both broadcast and online social content. In her previous role at advertising agency, .99, she assisted in the launch and management of a new content division, The Workshop. She then went on to work as an integration content specialist at MediaWorks.
Holyoake has championed social media for a wide variety of clients across different industries including corporate, not for profit, banking, FMCG, QSR, telecommunications and automotive, before coming to FCB. She worked on Effie’s award winning campaign, Love from Land Rover, Jaguar’s Actual Reality campaign which won gold at Cannes and personally was a runner up in the 2015 Junior Lions.
The Hive launched within FCB eight months ago and has built up a considerable portfolio in its short existence across a range of social platforms.
A new addition
The Z-Card NZ team has a new account manager, with Danielle Collings stepping in on 3 October.
Collings joins from NZME where she held a position within the advertising sales division.
The newest addition to the Z-Card team follows the recent announcement that it has joined forces with Sonar Print for all its production requirements.
Getting back into it
Curious Film has a new director on its roster with the addition of Oliver Green.
Green’s work has taken him around the world, but closer to home he is known for his work for Mojo, Colenso BBDO and Shine.
Following a break from advertising in the past 24 months, He told Campaign Brief he is happy to be joining Curious and working with producer Matt Noonan.
“…really looking forward to getting busy. I want to make work that has a good chance of snatching at the zeitgeist and affecting popular culture.”
A new addition
Wellington-based advertising agency Traverse has brought Nigel Corbett on board as creative director.
Corbett, who has spent the past four years as creative director for GSL Promotus in the capital, has won numerous international and local awards during his 16 years in the advertising industry.
Traverse chief executive Michael Gregg first met Corbett when he was executive creative director at Sugar Advertising half a decade ago, and whilst immediately impressed with the quality and creativity of his work, thought he was a funny guy.
“He’s a funny guy,” Gregg Said.
Nigel joined Team Traverse this week and headed straight out on an outdoor TV shoot, relocated indoors due to rain.
“I’m delighted to have options,” Corbett said.
Celebrated filmmaker and Cannes Young Director Awardee Ernest Desumbila has signed with Filmgraphics for representation in Australia and New Zealand.
Hailing from Barcelona, Desumbila’s distinct visual style has earned him recognition around the world, with his most recent ‘There Will be Haters’ campaign for Adidas affording him a Cannes Young Director Award last year.
Filmgraphics executive producer Anna Fawcett called Desumbila’s style “unique and fresh”, and looks forward to finding a special project for him to work on.
