Puma loosens Lassoo, claws Zenith

Fresh from its gobbledeegook-heavy global brand relaunch, the local branch of ZenithOptimedia has announced it has won the Puma New Zealand media account from incumbent Lassoo, which will continue to work with the brand in a PR capacity. “We are excited to be working with an exciting brand like Puma in New Zealand,” says Ryf Quail, general manager of ZenithOptimedia New Zealand. “To work with Puma in an Olympic year is a fantastic opportunity for us. They are progressive company who have punched above their weight in New Zealand and will give us a chance to stretch our creative thinking.”

Youtube VideoThe appointment is immediate and ZenithOptimedia has already commenced work with the brand.

Droga5 NY does the bulk of the big global projects for Puma (including the excellent after hours athlete, which led in part to the excellent pop up bar Puma Social near Wynyard Quarter in Auckland during the RWC last year) but it doesn’t have any local creative agency (Resn did develop the website for Puma Africa, however).

Puma, which was started by Rudolf Dassler, the brother of Adidas founder Adolf Dasler, designs and develops footwear, apparel and accessories and its sport fashion features collaborations with renowned designer labels such as Alexander McQueen, Mihara Yasuhiro and Sergio Rossi.
