The Warehouse sets up delivery partnership with DoorDash

The Warehouse has launched an exclusive same-day third-party delivery partnership with DoorDash.

Kiwis in Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington can now get a wide selection of goods from The Warehouse delivered to their door within the hour.

From nappies and body wash to toys and clothing, 20,000** products are now available via DoorDash. Further regional expansion is planned over the coming weeks.

Ideally research commissioned by DoorDash shows that while Kiwis still love browsing the aisles, the reality of busy lives means convenience matters more than ever.

Top priorities

The data shows that more than a third of Kiwis now prefer same-day delivery over waiting three to five business days. That preference was also strongest among younger shoppers.

Groceries and everyday essentials came out as the top priority for fast delivery for 55% of survey respondents. Household items and clothing and school needs were desired same-day delivery categories for 36% and 23% of shoppers, respectively. Meanwhile, more than two-in-five (41%) respondents said they wanted stationery and crafts to be available for rapid delivery.

In the initial pilot of The Warehouse on DoorDash; milk, eggs, toilet paper and baby items all came out on top for most ordered items. A few not-so-common items such as a baby cot mattress, garden potting mix and a pack of forks were also among delivery requests.

Deeply woven into Kiwi life

DoorDash New Zealand country manager Bradley Thomas says: “The Warehouse is deeply woven into Kiwi life. It’s trusted, familiar and proudly local and those values align strongly with how DoorDash operates in Aotearoa. By bringing The Warehouse onto DoorDash, we’re helping customers solve everyday problems faster, while supporting one of New Zealand’s most iconic home-grown brands to meet changing consumer expectations.”

Shayne Tong, The Warehouse Group chief digital and transformation officer, adds: “We’re excited to partner with DoorDash to offer our customers great value with the convenience that busy modern lives sometimes need. Kiwis have always relied on The Warehouse for great value, and this partnership means we can now be there in those everyday moments, like forgetting a birthday gift or a lost sports kit for tomorrow’s game. We are launching with over 20,000 products available on demand within the hour***, and plan to roll out to more towns across the motu soon.”

* Delivery times vary by location, operating hours, dasher availability and retailer preparation times.
