The sights and sounds of rock

Pachelbel’s Canon is the one of the most used backing tracks in TV and film, altered every which way to suit the genre. A new ad for Sony image sensors has another twist on the piece and it’s made entirely from the sounds of dripping water.

The ‘making of’ video shows a laborious process capturing everything from beats in a limestone cave to a rushing brook and bubbling groundwater.

Made by Mori and Drill in Kyushu, Japan, its a visually spectular work. But for all the cleverness it’s hard to distinguish the venerable Canon as the musical star until close to the end.
