Samsung TV Plus New Zealand’s advertising division, Samsung Ads, has significantly increased the platform’s “bingeable” offering as single show channels soar in popularity in Aotearoa.
The launch of 13 new dedicated channels on Samsung TV Plus (STVP), including Dog The Bounty Hunter, Ice Road Truckers, Duck Dynasty, and Emmy award-winning series, Intervention, brings cult-classic series to New Zealand’s free streaming TV environment for the first time.
Data shows that bingeable environments make up seven of the top 12 most-watched channels on STVP, with 42% of total viewing time spent watching back-to-back episodes.
Ed Love, Head of Samsung TV Plus ANZ & SEA, says, “Since day one, we’ve been focused on building a vast, unrivalled library of quality content to drive the highest value to our viewers. We are thrilled to launch this slate of new channels which delivers something for everyone, and significantly boosts our unscripted FAST offering with some of the strongest brands in the genre.
“For the first time, our Samsung TV Plus audiences will be able to stream these iconic series and larger than life characters for free.”
Continued investment in content, user experience and partnerships has seen the service viewing time increase by 68% year on year.
Globally, single IP channels have been tipped as one of FAST’s strongest performance drivers. Just over 17% of all FAST channels in the US last year were dedicated content, with the bingeable format growing from 86 to 340 channels since 2020.
“This is not just the content that our audiences enjoy and return to, but also the content brands and advertisers are looking for. The slate of high performing popular channels provides advertisers with more access to quality brand safe content on the big screen,” adds Richard Wheeler, Sales Director Samsung Ads ANZ.
