Alt Group impresses ze Germans

Alt Group’s no stranger to winning things, but its latest accolade is a pretty big one: a German Design Award in honour of its work for architectural practice Warren and Mahoney.

It’s the first time a New Zealand company has been honoured with this award, which is the German Design Council’s premium international prize. All entries are by invitation only to projects that have been previously recognised in other major design awards. Ten awards were presented in nine categories, from among a total of 1,500 German and international entries.

According to the German Design Council, the competition aims to identity, present and reward innovative and international design trends. The council says that participating is for the “crème de la crème” of the international design world.

Alt Group was named as a winner in the Audiovisual, Digital and Interactive Media category alongside the likes of Daimler, Porsche and Deutsche Telekom AG for the Warren and Mahoney website.

In re-imagining the site, Alt Group created an interactive grid design to balance the portfolio of projects with team profiles, creating a searchable history of projects, along with the context for each building and the team behind it.

“We set out to create a benchmark site for Warren and Mahoney and it’s great it has been recognised in the company of global design leaders,” says Alt Group managing director Ben Corban.
